| Customer Reviews: Wonderful "not obviously a camera bag" shoulder bag November 26, 2009 E. Martin (Miami, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this bag originally to take to an air show and have found many uses for it since. It's very well made with high quality zippers and very thick soft lint free lining with two flexible dividers that velcro into the sides. It holds my 40D, 100mm macro, 50mm f/1.8, 28mm f/1.8, 1.4x teleconverter, 4 camera batteries, 8 rechargable AA's, rocket blower, and my 580 EX II flash in its case. What I like a lot about this bag is the small accessory flap underneath the flap on the bottom front to store smaller items and be able to access them with ease. It also has a small back pouch which is good for storing things like a map or other papers. The strap has rubberized grips the entire length of the strap which are very good at keeping the bag securely on your shoulder.
Another great thing about this bag is that it looks like a normal messenger bag, which is great for traveling in airports, train stations, and the like. It's very inconspicuous. Overall, this is a great all around travel bag that can also be used for quick access to your camera when out shooting. This would make a good hiking shoulder bag also.
I've never been disappointed with Domke products, and this is no exception. Every bag I own from them has been nothing but top quality and well designed. Heck, they haven't been around this long by not doing it right!
Fis5XC messenger bag is smaller than it looks January 14, 2009 Howard E. Tyree (Charleston, WV USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I ordered and sent the bag back and purchased the larger Domke F-802 Reporter satchel. I own a Nikon D90 and a hosts of lenes, flashes and other equipment including other DSLR's and some digital point and shoot cameras. I own other Domke and camera bags but I needed a messenger bag that didn't look like a camera bag but could carry some of my DSLR and P&S equipment. I thought the F-5XC Large would be able to handle this job but it really didn't have enough pockets (the accessory pockets on the front under the flaps are very shallow and small)or adequate space to carry the D90 body w/TP lens, an extra wide angle lens, hoods, flash (SB 600), extra batteries, flashlight, small P&S, pens, small tablet, and lens cloth without it becoming overcrowded. I felt that the bag could handle the Camera, attached lens, spare lens, and the flash, but the F5XC didn't really have room for the extra small stuff without it being cramped or before I became frustrated from the inconvenience. Don't get me wrong it's a handsome, well built bag that could become your favorite bag. You can certainly get to your equipment easily and should work well for you especially if you are a bike rider. I gave it four stars because this is another great product from Domke that will work well with smaller equipment storage needs.
all-time FAVORITE bag! August 25, 2008 elle nus (chicago) i buy a LOT of bags and this one is my FAVORITE! i like it because it doesn't look like a camera bag, and it holds my DSLR with lens, external flash, macro lens, and a third lens!! it's amazing how much fits in it!! it doesn't look big!
