Fun Product June 21, 2010 Gloria Cannon (Antioch, CA) This was a birthday gift for my brother-in-law. He loves it and is getting some good photos with it. a great gift idea.
It doesn't work on mini camcorder. May 12, 2010 love 2 read (These United States) I was so excited when I first saw this item on TV. I went running to the store to buy it but had to get it online. My main purpose for this was to use it with my mini hp camcorder. It's a flip camcorder/camera. I was able to get it attached but was skeptical because it didn't feel snug. I made one video. Then as soon as I went to take the camcorder off ...it fell off. In the process of it falling off it seemed to have damaged the threads on the inside of the screw part in the camera. After that one initial video I was not able to attach it to the xshot.
Now in all fairness I will say that it does work on my digital camera so all is not lost. But I really wanted it for my mini flip camcorder.
In my opinion what it need is a bigger screw. I was able to get my camcorder to attach to my full size tripod which has a bigger screw. I am now on a quest to find another camera extender.
Cool Gadget March 30, 2010 Caitlin B (Scottdale AZ) Well, my Dad has everything, so I guess this gizmo might fall into the category "for the person who has everything". He does enjoy taking pictures, but is rarely in them. He & my Mom are planning a 3 week trip that promises daily emails containing 100s of shots. The last time they took this type of trip, there were a lot of shots of one or the other, but very few pictures of both of them together.
I recently got married so I had seen a plug for this gadget in a bridal magazine (marketing to would-be honeymooners with a similar photo plight). So, when I was scouring the internet for Dad's birthday, I thought this might be helpful for him too. I shipped it straight to his house so I never saw the actual product, but he promptly emailed me a bunch of pictures he took with the extender arm. They looked great - I couldn't tell! And, Dad was actually in the pictures! He said that it collapsed small enough to fit in Mom's purse, and they are excited to take it on their 3 week journey.
I'm eyeing one for myself as my new hubby hates those super close up & oddly angled pictures that people take with their arms extended in an attempt for a "self-portrait + 1".
Overall it was a hit! (and if I don't get one for my birthday, I'm ordering one before my honeymoon!!)
A must have product if you take pictures February 19, 2010 Mike spencer (sacramento) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good quality product that will work with any small camera. I used it to take incredible photo shots on "the worlds most dangerous hike" up in the HuaShan mountains of China. When your walking the HuaShan Plank path which consists of a few narrow boards bolted into the mountain cliff with a 3,000 foot drop, there is not going to be anyone close by volunteering to take your picture so this is where the Xshot comes in handy. Even in crowded venues, there is no need to ask strangers to take your picture. This was a replacement to my broken QuikPod extender.
Awesome Thingy! February 18, 2010 PryncessAnna (Jamaica) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this so that I could be in the pics with my hubby during our honeymoon without having to ask for assistance and it was grrrrrrrrreat!! Did the job and every time I whipped it out to use, I got rave reviews as most persons, if not all, were seeing it for the first time!
Great gadget to get if you're tired of being unseen behind the camera - like I definitely was. Had it since 2008, and only the string just got loosed this year.
TIP: If you're taking it in your carry-on, put it near the surface so u can pull it out &put in a tray (like your laptop) b4 baggage scan. This will save u a baggage search, as apparently not many persons know what it is &it has a straight 'weapon looking' shape. I'v had to explain a few times :)
