I bought this to fit my new Nikon 16-35mm f/4 AF-S VR lens. It fits the lens just right without the hood...with the hood on the normal way, it fits hood-up, but is noticeably tighter, though the velcro does align. I tend to keep the hood off when I use this. It easily fits my smaller 85mm f/1.8 and 70-300mm (non VR) lenses well. I doubt it would fit a 24-70mm f/2.8. It can fit both horizontally (velcro straps) and vertically (belt loop), and there's a metal loop at the top. Very nice quality, though the "sand" color is a bit darker/pinker than I expected.
